The proposed East Tampa Chess park project is a redevelopment of an existing vacant parcel central to East Tampa community. This location is envisioned to enrich the local community and capitalize on its vibrant heritage while introducing a unique feature destination to the City of Tampa park system.

 

The essential nature of this outdoor park is to be a cross-cultural meeting place where visitors and local residents will cultivate open minds, encounter new perspectives about problem solving, hone their creativity, and embrace resolving challenges through social engagement.

 

This project is closely adjacent to the East Tampa Hope Center and program features were informed by its initiatives in hopes of providing an inviting stage for the theatre of intrapersonal engagement. With the support of neighborhood business owners, the design is being presented to city leaders in order to garner funding and bring it to fruition.
